Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club
A green set against water and trees at golden hour

Twenty-seven holes of championship golf.

Ted McAnlis routed three distinct nines through preserve and water just south of downtown Venice. There are no parallel fairways here, and you'll seldom see another group on your hole.

A green beside water and a tree line on the course

A course you can play a different way every time.

The original eighteen opened in 1995, and the Hatchett Creek nine was added in 2002, giving the club three nines that combine into three different eighteen-hole courses. They range from a gentle 5,326 yards to a 7,182-yard test from the tips, with USGA ratings from 66.9 to 74.5.

The courses are painstakingly maintained, and Sarasota County residents have named Pelican Pointe a Reader's Choice winner every year since 2001. Ten sets of tees and the club's Tee it Forward program keep the round fair for every handicap.

Sets of Tees

Three nines, three eighteens.

The Meadows, Preserve, and Hatchett Creek nines pair into three eighteen-hole combinations — Meadows/Preserve, Preserve/Hatchett, and Hatchett/Meadows — so members rarely play the same eighteen twice.

Meadows

Part of the original eighteen that opened in 1995, the Meadows nine plays through open turf and water on the front of the property.

Preserve

Named for the protected land it borders, the Preserve nine runs closest to the wetlands, with water and waste bunkers shaping most holes.

Hatchett Creek

The newest nine, added in 2002. Gopher tortoises are common along it, and the creek comes into play on several holes.

A practice facility rebuilt in 2025.

The range and short-game areas were re-leveled and regrassed in 2025. There are 25 all-grass hitting stations, an 8,000-square-foot putting green, and separate chipping and bunker greens to work every part of the game.

Range balls are included with every round, and the practice green opens with the golf shop each morning.

Outings & tournaments.

The club hosts groups from 20 golfers up to events of more than 200, for corporate days, charity tournaments, and member groups. The golf staff helps plan the format — nine, eighteen, or all twenty-seven holes — and adds touches like beat-the-pro holes, putting and chipping contests, and group clinics.

The food and beverage team builds a menu to match the event and the budget. To plan an outing, call Bill Neal at 941-496-4653, ext. 222.
